🔼 Selected. Football player Anthony Smith was named to the Associated Press All-Bowl Team. This is the second-straight year a member of the ECU football team has been recognized for the award. Smith led the team with 64 receptions for 1,053 yards and seven receiving scores in the 2025 season.

🔼 New Staff. The football team named Alex Huettel the new offensive line coach. Huettel was recently at Old Dominion University for three years. He helped guide the team to 21 wins and a pair of bowl appearances in his three years.

🔼 New to ECU. The football team named Julian Griffin the new running backs coach for the 2026 season. Griffin recently coached at the University of California Berkeley for one year. His group tallied 1,405 rushing yards and scored 21 touchdowns in 2025. Before coaching at Cal, he had five seasons at UTSA.

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

Academic Awards. Two football players were named to the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. To be honored, the student-athletes must accumulate a cumulative GPA at or above 3.50 while being a starter or key reserve. In football, a player must have competed in 90 percent of the team's games or have started at least 66 percent of the squad's contests.

🏴‍☠️ Welcome! The football team has a new wide receivers coach! Juan Soto will join the staff for the 2026 season. Soto recently coached at the University of North Texas for two years. In 2025, the Mean Green’s offense led the atonal in first downs, scoring offense and total offense.
