Pirate Brew 8/10: Big Time Rush

Today, we're rooting for Rahjai Harris for the Doak Walker Award.

Good morning. Who runs the world? According to Beyoncé… it’s girls.

Keep the celebration going from yesterday’s National Women’s Day—and shout out to all women who keep the Pirates moving!

What else are we mixing into today's Brew?

🏆 Rahjai Harris earns another preseason honor
🏈 Intensity at practice
🏴‍☠️ And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Keep An Eye Out. An injury isn’t stopping Rahjai Harris from earning a spot on the Doak Walker Award Watch List for being the nation’s top running back. In the five games he played last season, he rushed 238 yards on 67 carries and had five scores—highlighted by a season-high 71 yards against Navy and 61 yards against Campbell. In three years with the Pirates, he has a total of 1,445 rushing yards on 360 carries and 13 touchdowns.

Stats matter for this award, but so do academic standings. The winner will be announced in December.

🔼 Three Musketeers. Golf is said to be a mind game and three ECU athletes took that to the next level—Nicolas Brown, Tyler DeChillis, and Stuart Fuller were named Golf Coaches Association of America All-America Scholars.

Nicolas Brown knows his way around the library as well as he does the fairway because this is his third straight scholastic honor.

🔼 Beast Mode. In case you’re still half-asleep, Jaylen Johnson has got you covered with his thunderous scream. The intensity going on at practice has been as high as ever with players finally able to put pads on.

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

Triple threat. The men’s golf team keeps rolling with the number three in every which way. Case in point? Last season, the men played three matches right here in North Carolina.

Our question today—out of those three matches, how many did the team finish in first place?
