🔼 CHAMPS! The football team faced Pittsburgh in the Go Bowling Military Bowl on Dec. 27 and won 23-17. The win gives ECU its first back-to-back bowl wins since 1964-65 and first nine-win season since 2013. Anthony Smith scored two touchdowns and Nick Mazzie made three field goals. Quarterback Chaston Ditta went 8-for-17 for 177 yards and two touchdowns.

🔼 Holiday Games. The women’s basketball team had two games over the holiday break. First, the Pirates beat UAB 88-87 in an overtime thriller on Dec. 30. Keanna Rembert banked in a three-point shot with 2.5 seconds remaining to win the game. She led the team with 27 points. The women started the new year with a 74-65 victory over Memphis on Jan. 3. The team now has a six-game win streak, tying the 2022-23 win streak.

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

Close Game. The men’s basketball team faced Tulane in its American Conference opener. The Pirates fell 79-70.

🏴‍☠️ At the Top. The baseball team was picked to finish first in the league’s 2026 Preseason Coaches Poll. The Pirates earned the top spot for the eighth consecutive season and the ninth time overall since joining the American prior to the 2015 campaign. Last season, ECU finished fourth in the regular season and won its fourth American Conference Championship.
