🔼 Doing Good. Football player Karson Jones was nominated for the 2026 American Football Coaches Association Good Works Team. The award recognizes student-athletes from every level of college football who are making an impact through community service, academic achievement and leadership. In community, he has volunteered at the Joy Soup Kitchen, participated in the Ignite Church Hurricane Relief Project, helped box packages for military members stationed abroad and has visited local elementary schools and hospitals. As a member of the East Carolina Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), he helped organize over 300 community service hours for student-athletes since stepping on campus in 2024.

Remembering Him. Today, we remember Dan Steele who recently passed away. Steele served as an assistant head coach, wide receivers coach and an administrator with the ECU football program.

Steele spent nearly ## years with the Pirate program.

🏴‍☠️ Big Impact. Baseball player Parker Byrd was selected as the 2026 recipient of the American Conference Community Impact Award. The award recognizes a student-athlete who has made an impact in either the surrounding or campus community through service work. The award includes a $2,000 donation from the American and Jostens in Byrd's name that will be made to the life skills program at East Carolina. Byrd launched the Limbitless Foundation to support amputees by focusing on awareness, resources and engagement for others who have lost a limb. Byrd himself was severely injured in a boating accident in the summer of 2022 and had his right leg amputated below the knee prior to his first season at ECU, before ultimately making his return to the baseball diamond some 13 months later.
