Pirate Brew 8/4: Clean Slate

Today, we're taking a look at who's on deck to play women's basketball.

Good morning. And a happy 233rd birthday to the United States Coast Guard. Thanks for keeping the waters safe on our behalf. (We’re Pirates, but we’re respectful Pirates.)

What else are we mixing into today's Brew?

🗓 Women’s basketball is on the calendar
🏈 Rahjai Harris is back and better than ever
🏴‍☠️ And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Sail The Seven Seas. ECU women's basketball will officially host seven teams in Minges Coliseum during their 11 game non-conference slate. The Pirates' schedule will also include a November trip to the Bahamas and two true road trips.

The first home game? Thursday, November 9 against USC Upstate.

🔼 Knees Up. Rahjai Harris appeared in five games last season and made one start before suffering a season-ending injury against South Florida. But now his knee is as strong as ever. Need some proof. Check out the latest behind-the-scenes from preseason camp and watch him run the field like he never left. (Come for the football highlights, stay for the jokes he’s got for teammates!)

🔼 Fast Facts. It’s never too early to get to know some of our student-athletes. Up today? Flanary Patterson! (Favorite song is Hot Wings? We’re gonna guess her favorite movie must be Rio…)

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

Above everyone else. To play basketball, being tall is definitely an advantage—and Taliyah Wyche can attest to that. At 6’3” she’s the tallest women’s basketball player.

Our question today—do you know where she played before coming to ECU?

We like our Brew hot n’ fresh. But we’re not opposed to you reheating your cup. Here’s some news you may have missed recently…

🏴‍☠️ Get A Kick Out Of This. Is it your dream to become a Pirate soccer player? This camp is just for you. Not only do you get to play on the field that the soccer team does, you will be coached by Gary Higgins himself! Click here to register for camp.

🏴‍☠️ Report Card. Men’s basketball just ended their summer session and Phenom Hoop Report is taking a look at what the Pirates are bringing to the table. Of course, RJ Felton was the first to be named as the top returner from last year. Then we have two big transfers now on the team, Bobby Pettiford Jr. from Kansas and Cam Hayes from LSU.
