Good morning. It’s National American Education Week and while we focus on our sports program, we want to thank all the professors for helping our student-athletes succeed in the classroom so they are able to play on the field.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼  Fresh Moves. The women’s basketball team has a number of great players but one freshman stood out to the American Athletic Conference. Karina Gordon was named Freshman of the Week and Danae McNeal picked up an Honor Roll recognition. Gordon led the team in first-half points in the season opener against Elon. She played 20 minutes and had a total of nine points, three rebounds, a steal and an assist.

🔼  So Close. The women took on VCU but just fell short 55-50. Danae McNeal led the team with 18 points, and Amiya Joyner was next with eight points. ECU led 36-33 after the third quarter but couldn’t continue its run in the fourth. A couple of fouls let VCU rack up easy free throw points to take the win.

🏀 Next up is Ohio State.

Deeds Done. Danae McNeal did her team a favor by playing amazingly in the women’s basketball season opener against Elon. Her Honor Roll recognition was well deserved after shooting in the double digits.
