Good morning Pirates. Baseball player Ethan Norby is in the headlines again! This time, Norby was named to the Preseason Gold Spikes Watchlist released by USA Baseball. He also earned another Preseason All-America honor, being named to the First Team as a starting pitcher by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

🔼 Road Dub. The women’s basketball team beat Tulane on the road on Tuesday. The Pirates won 65-61 after a dominant fourth quarter. The Pirates erased a halftime deficit for a win for the seventh time in American Conference play to win their 10th conference game for just the 10th time in program history. Their 10-2 conference record is the best start through a dozen games since 1991-92.

🔼 Save the Date! The 41st Annual Great Pirate Purple/Gold Pigskin Pig-Out Party will be on April 17-18! The event will again feature a weekend of barbecue with the famous pig cookin' contest, tailgating with friends and family, PeeDee's birthday party, and carnival-like fun for all ages. Pirate baseball will play host to Wichita State with games Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Lewis Field inside Clark-LeClair Stadium, while softball welcomes South Florida for a three-game weekend set.

🏴‍☠️ New Pirate. The football team has a new player for the 2026 roster! Meliq McGowan has signed a national letter-of-intent with the Pirates, pushing the final 2026 class to 40 members. McGowan is a 6’0 190lb running back from South Carolina. He led his high school team to a 10-2 overall record with a 5-0 conference ledger during his senior season.
