Pirate Brew 9/25: Golden Win

Today, we're looking at ECU’s win against Gardner-Webb.

Good morning. This has to be one of the best Mondays this month. Why? Because we get to celebrate ECU football’s first win of the season! Shoutout to everyone who painted Dowdy gold.

What else are we mixing into today's Brew?

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 First of Many. What a huge turnaround for Pirates football. The team not only won their first game of the season, but it was a 44-0 shutout on a slippery wet field with 44,589 cheering fans. Three of the four quarters had double-digit scores. The Pirates started out with a strong 13-point first quarter, with Rahjai Harris catching an 11-yard pass from Alex Finn for a touchdown and running for two yards to the end zone. Next, Andrew Conrad made a 44-yard field goal in the second quarter, and Mason Garica ran two yards for a touchdown.

Kamarro Edmonds ran 11 yards to the end zone for the only score in the third quarter. To end the game, Javious Bond ran five yards, and Edmonds ran one yard to each score a touchdown. Overall, the team forced five turnovers and had 366 offensive yards.

🔼 Double Down. ECU volleyball took down UAB twice this past weekend, winning 3-0 in match one and 3-2 in match two. In the first match, the Pirates had 39 kills, eight aces, and seven blocks. Angeles Alderete led the Pirates in kills with 13, and Julianna Askew contributed five aces.

ECU was close to a 3-0 win in match two, but the Blazers took the win in the third and fourth set. The Pirates had 63 kills and 9 blocks. Volleyball’s next match is Friday against Florida Atlantic.

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

Shut ‘em Down. The Pirates showed up and showed out in the rainy North Carolina conditions against Gardner-Webb. As you know, the team shut out the Bulldogs 44-0, which hasn’t happened in a while.
