🔼 Great Eight. It’s the start of a great season for the women’s tennis team. The Pirates won eight matches at the Tribe Invitational in Williamsburg, three of which were consolation draw titles. Head coach Kirstin Burgess says the team excelled in singles matches but needs to work on doubles.

In the Silver Singles Draw, ECU won three of the five matches. Noelle Talarek won one match, and Anne Lou Champion won two. The Pirates compete again this weekend at the Elon Fall Invitational.

🔼 Brick Wall. The Pirate's defense on soccer is basically a brick wall when Jazmin Ferguson is on the field. Ferguson makes it hard for anything to get past the back line, and that is why she was named American Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week. The defense only allowed three shots on goal in the UNCG game, didn’t allow a single shot in the Florida Atlantic game, and Ferguson shot the game-winning goal against Florida Atlantic.

Lucy Fazackerley was named to the Honor Roll with her assists on both Pirates goals. These were also her first two career assists. See the women back in action on Thursday against UAB at 8 p.m.

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

In Her Name. Anne Lou Champion is truly a champion with her success on the women’s tennis team. This season marks her junior year, and she already has W’s under her belt.

Today’s question—how many W’s does Champion have this season so far?
