📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Happy Houston. Through the miserable rainy weather, the Pirates were able to find a little bit of sunshine to brighten up their game against Gardner-Webb. Head coach Mike Houston was ecstatic about the crowd turnout and the hard work the grounds crew and equipment staff had to do to keep the game alive.

The Pirates took care of the football much better than games prior, with only one ball on the ground all night. Now, ECU goes up against Rice this Saturday. Houston says his team has similar styles compared to Rice and that the team’s focus is to go 1-0 this weekend with conference play starting.

🔼 Hit and Kill. Izzy Marinelli is working up an appetite at volleyball practice. The redshirt sophomore is a 5’11” outside hitter for the Pirates and is playing for her second year here. Last season, Marinelli ranked second on the squad with 282 kills and 2.39 kills per set. This season, she is ranked second again for total kills so far with 41 and notched a season-high nine kills in the sweep of Campbell. The team is 11-3 overall and 2-1 in conference play.

Coming Up. ECU soccer competes with South Florida tonight at 7 p.m. The teams have had many meetings in the past, and the Pirates look to put another W in the books this season on top of their current 6-2-3 overall record and 1-0-1 conference record.
