Pirate Brew 10/23: Love Angeles

Today, we're looking at Angeles Alderete's performance against volleyball's win over Memphis.

Good morning. Mark your calendars because your last chance to see Pirates soccer play at home is Thursday at 7 p.m. It is also Senior Day, so make sure you come to support the team!

What else are we mixing into today's Brew?

🏈 Football’s close game
🏐 Volleyball beats Memphis
🏴‍☠️ And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Close Comeback. The Pirates faced Charlotte and almost pulled through in the fourth quarter to tie the game. Charlotte was up 10-0 after the third quarter, and the Pirates got a touchdown in the fourth. Kingston McKinstry recovered a muffed punt, which set up quarterback Alex Flinn to make a 10-yard pass to Shane Calhoun to put seven points on the board. In the last 34 seconds of the game, Andrew Conrad had the chance to tie it up, but his 48-yard field goal went wide to the left.

🔼 Total Takedown. The volleyball team faced Memphis on Thursday and Friday and beat them both days. Friday’s match was a 3-1 win, and Angeles Alderete finished with her second-straight double-double. She tied for a match-high of 13 kills, had 14 digs, and four blocks. Fran McBride and Farah Farooq both had six blocks.
