Pirate Brew 8/29: Marking Milestones

Today, we're looking at how many goals the women's soccer program has.

Good morning. A Pirate is nothing without their crew, and ECU track & field has a pretty big one. Can you guess how many newcomers are on the team this season? Scroll down to find out!

What else are we mixing into today's Brew?

⚽️ Soccer marks a milestone

🔼 New Milestone. With two shutout wins under its belt, ECU women’s soccer added a total of five goals this past weekend to the program. Overall, the program now has a total of 750 goals since being created in 1994.

The Pirates hope to add more goals at Thursdays home match against UNCW at 7 p.m.

🔼 Hop Aboard. Make room on the ship because track and field is bringing in a big new crew of 23 athletes. Director of Track & Field Curt Kraft said this “might be one of the best overall classes.”

Five of the newbies—Sam Dewar, Sarah Smith, Javariante Core, Lydia Simmons, and A’Laya Gillespie—are North Carolina natives. Coaches also went across the seas to grab Shakiel Dacres and Brandon Gayle from Kingston, Jamaica.

We like our Brew hot n’ fresh. But we’re not opposed to you reheating your cup. Here’s some news you may have missed recently…

🏴‍☠️ Fill Me Up. Funky fresh food is coming to Dowdy-Ficklen this football season. “Fire in the Hole BBQ” is a new in-house smoked BBQ concept that you can get in six different locations inside the stadium. You also can’t forget your beverage with your meal. See where you can buy alcoholic drinks and the rules that come along with it here.

🏴‍☠️ DJ Play My Song. If you aren’t a part of the Pirate Club—definitely sign up for it—you can still get the party atmosphere with DJ Mista Illz. The North Carolina native is the new stadium DJ and has experience spinning his tracks at UFC fights and Carolina Hurricane NHL games.
