🔼 First and Foremost. Basketball is just 17 days away from the 2023-2024 season opener, and men’s basketball head coach Michael Schwartz already has a lot to say about the team. He is proud of the consistency of the staff because it helps the team be more confident. He gets into the new look of the American Athletic Conference and how the program will remain a defense-focused team. There are eight returning players and eight new faces. Listen to more of what Schwartz has to say in the video above.

🔼 High Five. Put your hands up to the sky because ECU volleyball got its fifth straight win. The Pirates beat Memphis in a 3-0 shutout. The team has notched the most sweeps in a single season in school history and still has many more matches to go. Angeles Alderete got her seventh double-double of the season with 11 kills and 11 digs against Memphis. Overall, the team had 40 kills, 57 digs, and four service aces.

🔼 Just Takes One. ECU soccer raked in another win this season for its ninth win overall and fourth win in conference play. Sydney Schnell scored the lone goal of the game, and it was her team-leading fifth goal of the season. The Pirates victory was the 100th of head coach Gary Higgins’ career, including his time at Lenoir-Rhyne.

We like our Brew hot n’ fresh. But we’re not opposed to you reheating your cup. Here’s some news you may have missed recently…

🏴‍☠️ Hometown Hero. As a former ECU baseball player, Mike Harrington wanted to give back to the program, and the school put a sign on Gate 5 in his honor. The family donated $100,000 last year to help with the baseball expansion project. Harrington loved that as a local who got to play at ECU, he was able to represent his school.

🏴‍☠️ Graduate Greats. Another family made a huge donation to the Pirates Unite Campaign. Wes and Darlene Johnson donated $100,000 to the Isley Indoor Performance Center.
