Pirate Brew 4/20: Believe The Hype

Today, targets on our back don't bother us.

Good morning! Former Pirate Connor Norby seems to be taking to his top-100 prospect status well! With a fresh target on his back, the Baltimore farmhand is hitting well north of .300 this season, and has reached base in all but one game.

What all are we mixing into today's Brew?

⚾️ Gold rush
⛳️ Ironed out
🏴‍☠️ And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 The Streak Lives On. A crooked three-spot on the scoreboard in the fourth inning was all the distance East Carolina baseball needed between it and Charlotte on Wednesday, winning 6-2.

Justin Wilcoxen owned the night for the Pirates, as the catcher went 2-for-4 with the go-ahead three-run home run in that crucial fourth inning.

The win moves East Carolina’s win streak to nine, with a chance to push it to double digits this weekend at Wichita State.

🔼 Steady In Sixth. ECU women’s golf shot its way to sixth place after day one of the AAC Championships, and held steady in that spot through the last day of play Wednesday.

The Pirates shot 20-over for the week, three shots clear of seventh-place Tulane. Oda Sofie Kilsti was the highest finisher for East Carolina, shooting 2-over for her three rounds, placing herself in a tie for 17th. Andrea Miralles Llopis worked her way up the leaderboard on Wednesday with an even-par round, finishing 25th at the tournament.

🔼 Run-Rule Rout. East Carolina softball exploded for 10 runs in its midweek contest against NC Central, run-ruling the Eagles 10-2 in five innings.

Taylor Edwards had herself another good day at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Jordan Hatch kept NC Central at arm’s length all day from the circle, striking out six in three innings and earning her 12th win of the season.

The match ultimately came down to a pair of three-set singles matches that went the Cougars’ way. Martina Muzzolon picked up a singles point for the Pirates, winning in straight sets.

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

Fastest Man On The Mount. East Carolina’s Royal Burris was named the AAC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week for his win in the 100-meter dash at the Mount Olive Invite.

Burris ran the race in 10.24 seconds, just off his PR. What is Burris’ PR?
