🔼 When The Stars Come Out. And the award goes to…
ECU Athletics held its annual Goldsbys this week. A few highlights:
🔼 Late Rally. After falling behind 5-0 after three innings, East Carolina baseball came storming back against NC State on Tuesday but came up just short, losing 5-4.
Jacob Starling was the star for the Pirates, scoring two runs as part of a 3-for-4 performance.
The third inning was the trouble spot for ECU, with NC State scoring all five of its run in the frame. Jake Hunter, Garrett Saylor, and Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman combined to put zeros up on the scoreboard for the final five-plus innings.
🔼 Senior Spotlight. In the midst of a school record 10-win regular season, East Carolina lacrosse gets one more home game on Saturday.
Leading up to their matchup with James Madison, the Pirates are shouting out their seniors, who are suiting up at Johnson Stadium one last time.
🔼 Future Is Bright. ECU men’s golf’s season may be over, but with how well the young talent on the team played this season, we’re already looking forward to next year’s schedule.
Freshman Lucas Augustsson will lead the squad next year as a sophomore. The Sweden native shared third place at the AAC Championships, carding his fourth top-10 of his freshman year.
Sophomores Carter Busse and Tyler DeChellis will also have a huge impact on next year’s team. Busse finished 35th and DeChellis 37th at the AAC Championships. A lot of good golf ahead for the Pirates!
🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA
Big Buckets. East Carolina women’s basketball star Danae McNeal won the Female Athlete of the Year award at this week’s Goldsbys, which gives us a good excuse to look back at just how good she was this season.
Do you remember how many points per game McNeal scored this season?
