Pirate Brew 4/4: Home Cookin'

Today, we're moving into Clark-LeClair Stadium.

Good morning! Will Clark-LeClair Stadium start charging us rent if we show up tonight and then just…don’t leave for the next two weeks? The baseball team has eight home games in 12 days and we don’t plan on missing any of them.

I’ve had hot dogs for breakfast before and I’ll do it again.

What all are we mixing into today's Brew?

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 How ‘Bout A Homestand. East Carolina baseball begins an eight-game homestand tonight as it hosts NC State at Lewis Field at Clark-LeClair Stadium.

Despite a series loss to Houston over the weekend by the narrowest of margins, the Pirates currently sit at 20-8 overall and came in at #12 in the most recent D1Baseball poll.

The Wolfpack sport an identical 20-8 record thanks to an explosive lineup. NC State has seven lineup regulars hitting above .300, and have hit 49 home runs as a team this year.

🔼 Cutter Creek Champs. East Carolina men’s golf came roaring back at the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate with a season-best round of 277 (11-under par) to win by one stroke over Jacksonville State.

Freshman Lucas Augustsson took home the individual title after shooting a 54-hole score of 213 (3-under), one shot clear of second place. Three straight birdies to end the freshman’s round clinched both the team and individual title.

🔼 Second Spot. East Carolina women’s golf sits in second place after day one of the Ironwood Invitational, carding a 4-over 580 through two rounds.

Oda Sofie Kilsti (-4) and Danielle Modder (-3) led the way for the Pirates. Kilsti’s day has her tied for the lead with two others, with Modder one shot back of the leaders.

ECU stands 10 shots back of James Madison, who shot 6-under through two rounds. The Pirates are two shots clear of the College of Charleston, in third place.

The agreement allows the station to continue broadcasting weekly ECU Athletics Coaches Shows during football, basketball, and baseball seasons. Per the agreement, ECU and WNCT-TV will also work to develop other exciting new ECU Athletics programming for the market.

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

Pin Seeking Pirate. East Carolina men’s golf’s Lucas Augustsson has won two events this season, the first Pirate to accomplish that feat since the 2016-2017 campaign.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Tim Conover!

Conover had a great career as a Pirate, having been one of only two players in program history to participate in three NCAA Regional tournaments (Harold Varner). Conover completed his eligibility with the fourth-lowest career stroke average (73.45) in program history.

Have a great Tuesday, y’all.
