On an unrelated note, East Carolina lacrosse plays Florida today in the AAC Championships.

🔼 Director’s Chair. Director of Athletics Jon Gilbert has announced a restructuring of the men’s and women’s golf programs at ECU, with Kevin Williams the man in charge of both moving forward as the new Director of Golf.

Williams returned to ECU in 2021 to take over the men’s program, and has over 24 years of head coaching experience at his alma mater. He served as head men’s coach from 1995-2005 before taking over again in 2021, and served as head women’s coach in two different stretches, from 2000-2005 and 2006-2019.

🔼 Championship Central. Knocking off the three-time defending AAC tournament champions would sure be a fun way to pick up your first AAC tournament win, don’t you think?

Three-seed East Carolina lacrosse gets another shot at two-seed Florida this evening in a rematch of the low-scoring April 15 matchup that the Gators won 10-5.

Florida, the No. 9 team in the country, has won all three previous AAC Championships and is 5-1 In AAC play this season. The winner of the ECU-Florida matchup will play the winner of James Madison-Cincinnati.

🔼 Low Scoring Affair. A pitcher’s duel broke out at the Jungle last night between East Carolina and North Carolina, with the Tar Heels edging the Pirates, 2-1.

Garrett Saylor was great in the starting role for ECU, tossing four innings and allowing just one run on two hits. Five other Pirates combined for the final five innings, allowing just one hit and one run between them.

Jacob Jenkins-Cowart collected the one RBI for ECU, a single that scored Jacob Starling.
