🔼 Major Debut. Gavin Williams’ first MLB start is behind him, as he pitched in front of a raucous Cleveland crowd that couldn’t wait for his arrival on Wednesday night.

Williams pitched 5.2 innings against the Oakland Athletics, struck out four and allowed four earned runs in a no-decision.

🔼 Just Keep Winning. After finishing the previous season at 4-6 overall, the 1972 East Carolina football team made one of the biggest turnarounds in school history in head coach Sonny Randle’s second year in Greenville.

The Pirates jumped out to a 5-0 start and ended the 1972 season at 9-2 overall, their only losses coming to NC State and North Carolina.

Carlester Crumpler led the charge for the Pirates, rushing for 1,309 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The Pirates have announced seven newcomers to the 2023 team - Lucy Fazackerley, Ella Steck, Elsa Stedman, Emma Sheehan, Keyera Wynn, Juliana Viera, and Sydney Cox.

🔼 Come On In, Water’s Fine. ECU swimming and diving has announced its 2023 class!

The class includes nine freshmen and two transfers - Sophie Benkusky, Carlie Clements, Elena Dinehart, Mikayla Durkin, Kaylee Hamblin, Sophie Knepper, Jecza Lopez, Danielle McCarthy, Campbell Murawski, Olivia Templeton and Rebecca Tiberti.
