Good morning! East Carolina women’s basketball deserves to be celebrated for its work on the hardwood.

🔼 Voice Of The Pirates. East Carolina sports fans, let us introduce you to Chris Edwards, who has been named Director of Broadcasting and “Voice of the Pirates” for ECU Sports Properties!

Edwards is no stranger to Greenville as a 2010 East Carolina graduate. His resume also includes television play-by-play for men’s and women’s broadcasts on ESPN+ since 2020 and at one time he served as the public address announcer for Pirate baseball.

🏀 All-Colonial Athletic Conference guard Justine Allpress

🎙 Play-by-play announcer Jeff Charles

🏈 All-Conference USA defensive lineman Roderick Coleman

⚾️ All-American pitcher Seth Maness

The four inductees will be honored on Friday, Oct. 20 at the 45th annual ECU Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony at Harvey Hall inside the Pete & Lynn Murphy Center.

🔼 Win, win, win. East Carolina football won 26 games in three seasons from 2007-09.

A big reason for all those wins? Quarterback Patrick Pinkney’s 44 total touchdowns - 39 through the air and another five on the ground!

Remember Pinkney’s first career start? It came in a wild 34-31 win over North Carolina, with Pinkney throwing for 406 yards and three touchdowns.

🔼 Vaunted Vaulter. Starrett Vesper is the 2022-23 AAC Men’s Indoor Track & Field Scholar Athlete of the Year!

Vesper, who earned a top-10 finish in the men’s pole vault at the AAC Championships, is the first East Carolina track & field athlete to earn the scholarship, and the ninth Pirate athlete across all sports to earn the recognition.
