Pirate Brew 8/2: The Honorable Seven

Today, we've got this year's preseason football honors revealed.

Good morning. Today is for diamonds. ECU women’s basketball is shining bright with their brand new AAC Championship rings. Go run it back, y’all.

What all are we tossing into today's Brew?

🏆 More preseason football honors than we can count
🏖️ The Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship is on
🏴‍☠️ And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 The Honorable Seven. We’re in seventh heaven over here, y’all. College Football Network selected a total of seven ECU football players for their annual Preseason All AAC Team, and the top two selections should not surprise you.

Devon King headlined the group as the special teams ace who appeared in 12 games last year. But he saved his best for last, logging a career-high 32 snaps against Coastal Carolina in the TicketSmarter Birmingham Bowl and recording a pair of tackles, officially earning a scholarship last December.

BJ Davis is a newcomer, but this isn’t his first honor as he’s earned spots on the HBCU All-America team, the All-MEAC First Team, and earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors last season with an 80.2 coverage grade according to Pro Football Focus.

🔼 Remote Work. The games are set for the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship as ECU women’s basketball is scheduled to face off against Ohio State and Seton Hall just before Thanksgiving later this year. The Pirates will face Ohio State on Monday, November 20 and Seton Hall on Wednesday, November 22.

The team finished 23-10 overall last season with the Buckeyes sitting just above that at 28-8 and Seton Hall going 19-15.

If you aren’t planning on sailing down to Nassau to see the game in person, you can watch it on the FloHoops live stream.

🔼 Another Zay, Another Dollar. Listen, as long as ECU football alum Zay Jones keeps making catches in training camp… we’re going to keep featuring them. Watch him go 4-for-4 on touchdown passes from Trevor Lawrence—including a no-look pass on the first play? They’re building something down there in Duval.

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

Ahoy there. This doesn’t happen everyday. With ECU women’s basketball set to face off against Seton Hall—it’ll be Pirates vs. Pirates down in the Bahamas, which sounds like something that happened but we digress.

Our question today is about another famous Pirate and this one was featured on the big screen.

What year was the movie Hook with Robin Williams and Dustin Hoffman released?
