Pirate Brew 9/1: Seven Out
Today, we're congratulating soccer for being ranked No. 7 in the South Region.
Good morning. We made it! No more countdowns because football season is finally here. Make sure you tune into the game on Peacock at noon ET tomorrow to watch the Pirates take on Michigan.
What else are we mixing into today's Brew?
🏐 And Campbell goes down
⚽️ Shutout count: 3
🏴☠️ And much, much more!
🎉 KICK OFF THE WEEKEND
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Three Up Three Down. ECU volleyball took down Campbell 3-0 in the first match of the Pirate Invitational last night. The Pirates conquered the court with 42 kills and six aces and had a .264 hitting percentage—more than double the Camels.
The Pirates are now 3-1 overall, with another match scheduled for tonight against Bethune-Cookman at 7 p.m. ET.
🔼 Three Cheers. Volleyball and soccer are on the same wavelength this season when it comes to the number three. Soccer got its third win in a row, or should we say, the third shutout in a row because that’s what we’re doing now. We are keeping a shutout count now.
And to add to the magic number three, Sydney Schnell scored the first goal of the match against UNCW in the third minute of the match. (Too bad Schnell wears jersey No. 22 and not No. 3, or else that would’ve been really cool.)
The second goal, in the last minute of the match, ended the contest with a final score of 2-0. Molly Thomas was set at the bottom center of the goal and tapped it in for the icing on the cake.
The Pirates plan to get another shutout at their next match at High Point on Sunday, Sept. 3 at 4 p.m. ET.
🔼 At The Top. It might be lucky to get sevens in Las Vegas, but here in North Carolina, it’s just skill. The soccer team is ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Top 10 NCAA DI Women— South Region poll. The women were ranked after their back-to-back shutouts and two athletes being named to the weekly conference honors.
🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA
Gridiron Glory. ECU football has yet to face Michigan in a game until tomorrow, but baseball and softball have already dominated the Wolverines in past matchups.
Both teams faced Michigan the same number of times and beat them the same number of times also.
Today’s question—how many times have both baseball and softball beat Michigan?
