🏈 PIRATE FOOTBALL HISTORY

Explore the rich history of Pirate football and the passion of Pirate Nation with “No Quarter: The History of East Carolina Football and Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium.”

The exhibit featured in the ECU main campus library on the second and third floors opened Aug. 1 and will remain into November.

🏈 An exhibit reception is scheduled for this afternoon from 4pm-6pm in the Janice Hardison Faulkner Gallery on the library second floor—just in time for the home opener this weekend!

🔼 The Time has Come. Fall ball called, and the Pirates are ready to answer. Eight games are on the schedule for softball, and each will be played to 10 innings. There are six home games, and the first one kicks off on Friday, Sept. 22. Plan to come out and see 12 returners and 12 newcomers at Max R. Joyner Stadium this fall.

🔼 Another Leap. This might as well be a weekly segment for the Pirate Brew until we reach No. 1 because the women jumped up in the United Coaches Top 10 South Region Poll for the second week in a row. Previously ranked at No. 7, the Pirates are now sitting at No. 5 after a shutout against UNCW and a 3-1 win against High Point. Watch their match against Duke tonight at 7 p.m. ET.

Third’s a Charm. Softball head coach Shane Winkler is ready to start his third season with ECU as fall ball is underway. Here are some fun facts about Winkler: has three postseason appearances in his career, is the first male softball head coach at ECU, and has coached a total of 15 seasons (239 games).
