Final six. The Pirates had a close game against Rice for the first American Athletic Conference game of the season. ECU was only down by one point at halftime but wasn’t able to complete plays in the third and fourth quarters to get a lead. There were three possessions in the final six minutes that the Pirates weren’t able to capitalize on, and Rice won 24-17.

Some standout players of the game were freshmen Javious Bond and Chase Sowell. Bond had 72 yards on seven carries for a team high on the ground for the second straight week. Sowell also put up a personal best of seven catches for 88 yards and made a two-point game-tying conversion.

🔼 Sweeping Start. The women’s swim and dive team took on three different schools and beat all of them at the first meet of the season. First up was Barton. The Pirates washed them out by over 100 points with a final score of 205-104. Next was Gardner-Webb, and the team had another huge win of 199-103. Finally, the Pirates finished out the meet with a win over Catawba 194-118.
