📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Sweeping the Pool. The swim team opened the 2024-25 season, sweeping the Pirate Duels. The women beat Barton 218-42, Gardner-Webb 207-51 and Catawba 174-87. The 200-yard medley relay team finished first. Laura Lopez x2, Sophie Benkusky, Kaylee Hamblin x2 and Sara Kalawska x2 all had first-place finishes.

🔼 Back-to-Back DUBS! The volleyball team shut out UTSA 3-0 Friday night. Fran McBride led the Pirates with 11 kills. Angeles Alderete was so close to a double-double with nine kills, 17 digs and two blocks. On Sunday, the Pirates had an exciting game against North Texas where they won 3-2. Alderete led the match with 22 kills and became the 11th player in program history to record 1,000 career kills. Ellie Pate smashed a career-high in kills with 20.

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

Running Results. The cross country team finished the Pirate Invitational on Friday. Erin Pope led the women with a sixth-place finish, and J Henry Lyon led the men with a 13th-place finish.

🏴‍☠️ Many Wins. The women’s tennis team competed in the ITA Hidden Dual and secured 14 victories. They had nine singles victories and five doubles wins against athletes from Tribe, Davidson, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion and North Carolina. Ines Bachir and Xenia Jeromin remained unbeaten during the event.
