Pirate Brew 1/11: Feeling The Brotherly Love

Pirates Pick Up Big Road Win At Temple

Happy Thursday ECU Fam. Today seems like a great day to enjoy a Philly Cheesesteak for lunch, what do you say?

Conference wins are always big. Road conference wins are HUGE.

That’s exactly what the Purple & Gold were able to bring home last night.

What else are we mixing into today's Brew?

🏀 Bump In the Road
🏴‍☠️ And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Feelin’ The Brotherly Love. Order up the cheesesteaks. Run the Rocky steps. The ECU Pirates have taken over Philly.

A trio of players scored 15+ points to help the Purple & Gold to their first-ever win at Temple on Wednesday night, 73-62.

RJ Felton scored 20 points to lead the offensive attack, while Ezra Ausar (18 pts) and Brandon Johnson (15 pts) both filled the basket up throughout the night.

🔼 Signed, Sealed, Delivered. All-American, Conference Pitcher of the Year, two-time All-Conference honoree. And now Cleveland Guardian.

This week, former ECU standout Carter Spivey officially signed on to join the Cleveland Guardians organization.

Over five seasons with the Pirates, Spivey piled up a 17-7 ledger on the mound, filling in as both a starter and reliever during his career. He was the 2022 AAC Pitcher of the Year after going 8-0 with a 2.83 ERA.

In 177.2 career innings, the right-hander struck out 168, while walking just 55.

🔼 Bump In The Road. A third quarter barrage by visiting UAB proved to be the difference as the ECU women’s basketball team dropped a tough decision at home on Wednesday night.

Sophomore Amiya Joyner had a big night with 16 points and 15 rebounds, but it wasn’t enough as the Blazers pulled out a 73-64 victory.

🤔 PIRATES TRIVIA

With RJ Felton leading the way, the Pirates were feeling it on Wednesday night in Philadelphia.

As a team, the squad shot 27-of-50 from the field, good for 54-percent, the third-highest mark over the past five years for ECU.

What’s the highest FG percentage over the past five seasons for the Purple & Gold?
